Our Farming
Practices
Probably more than you need to know.
Never Sprayed Pastures
We're in the growing life business, not terminating it with herbicides. Plus we bet you didn't know that the bacteria in a cow saliva sends signals to the forage they graze. When done well, we use grazing to control undesirable plants in our pastures.
Humanly Raised
Our animals are family, deserving of dignity every day. They roam freely with constant access to lush, nutrient-rich forage. Plenty of space for movement, fresh air, and sunshine keeps them strong and content.
Not Certified Organic
Legally, we can't slap "organic" on our packaging, even if it feels like the perfect fit for what we do. We exceed most organic standards and then some. Everything from Yoder's Grass Fed is 100% GMO-free, synthetic pesticide- and herbicide-free, antibiotic-free, hormone-free, irradiation-free, chemical-free, sludge-free, mystery-ingredient-free... you name it, we're steering clear.
Natural Healthcare
A life of grazing on fresh pastures and gentle activity means sickness is the exception, not the rule. When it does arise, we turn first to time-tested homeopathic remedies, exploring every gentle avenue before modern interventions. Should antibiotics or synthetics ever enter the picture—and that's exceedingly rare—those animals step aside from our food chain entirely.
Our Real Farm
Small farm is not just a marketing buzz word to describe our operation. And we're not importing cattle from other counties to run our farm. We operate on 120 acres of land in Western Kentucky that's home to many different livestock. Cattle get our attention and at any given time, the herd is never bigger than 250 head.
Regenerative
For us, it starts with vibrant biodiversity across our pastures: a symphony of native grasses, wildflowers, forbes, clovers, and teeming with soil microbes. Husbanding cattle is equally about husbandry of soil microbes. Robust plants fuel thriving animals, which in turn nourish you with foods that truly sustain.
